New Chip Credit Cards are Coming Soon.
HealthCare Associates Credit Union Visa® Credit Cards will soon come with built-in chip technology, also known as EMV (Europay, MasterCard®, Visa®). This will give you greater fraud protection when you use your card at a chip-activated terminal. Your new card will not only be more secure – it will also be easy to use and come with all of your existing credit card offerings.
When you receive your new credit card, you will want to activate it immediately and destroy your old card.
In an effort to prepare you for the change, HACU has compiled information and resources below about how this change will affect you.
Visa Chip Cards - A Simple, Secure and Smart Way to Pay.
Although new to the United States, chip cards have been the standard form of payment in Europe and many other countries for years. With your new chip card, you'll enjoy greater acceptance when traveling abroad.
The small microchip on the front of the card is the key to better fraud protection. When you use your card at a chip-activated terminal, the embedded chip generates a one-time use code that's virtually impossible to replicate by counterfeit cards.

Answers to questions about chip technology:
Q: What is a chip card?
A: We all use our credit cards for shopping, eating out and buying groceries. Soon you can do so with the added security benefits of an EMV chip credit card. The new cards will be nearly impossible to counterfeit, and travel will be even easier in more than 130 countries where chip cards are already used. EMV chip cards do everything magnetic stripe cards do but even more securely; plus you are still protected from fraud by Visa's Zero Liability policy1.
Q: How can I request a HACU Visa Chip Credit Card?
A: Current HACU cardholders will automatically receive a chip card when available. If you currently do not have a HACU credit card, please apply here.
Q: Will my new chip card have all the same benefits?
A: Yes. You will keep receiving the same great benefits you always have.
Q: How will chip technology protect my information?
A: Whenever you use your card at a chip-activated terminal, the embedded chip generates a one-time use code. This code is virtually impossible to counterfeit and helps reduce in-store fraud.
