Share Insurance

We are pleased to inform you that your depository accounts in HealthCare Associates Credit Union are insured up to $500,000. This exceptional level of coverage is attained through a combination of federal insurance provided by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and private insurance from Excess Share Insurance Corporation (ESI).

National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Share Insurance

  • Your savings federally insured to at least $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.

  • Independent U.S. Government agency that regulates, charters and insures the nation's federal credit unions

  • Credit Union shares are insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF)

  • Not one penny of insured savings has ever been lost by a member of a federally insured credit union

  • The fund is currently at the strongest and best reserved level in its history

  • Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are insured separately from regular share accounts to $250,000

Excess Share Insurance

All individual share savings, share draft checking, and share certificates of deposit accounts held by the same member are added together and insured up to the $250,000 by the NCUA and an additional $250,000 by ESI, for a total of $500,000. An individual share account is an account owned by one individual without the right of withdrawal by others. Individual accounts are insured separately from IRA and joint accounts.

All joint accounts held by the same member are added together and insured up to the $250,000 by the NCUA and an additional $250,000 by ESI, for a total of $500,000. Joint accounts are insured separately from individual and IRA accounts.

All IRA accounts held by the same member are added together and insured up to the $250,000 by the NCUA and an additional $250,000 by ESI, for a total of $500,000. IRA accounts are insured separately from individual and joint accounts.
